How to Get Started in a RedM Equestrian Sandbox: A Beginner’s Guide
Welcome to The Tackroom; a RedM Equestrian & Slice of Life server, where the vast, immersive world of Red Dead Redemption meets equestrian sandbox gameplay! Whether you’re a seasoned rider or new to the saddle, this step-by-step guide will help you navigate your first steps on The Tackroom server. From joining the server to catching your first wild horse, we’ve got you covered.
1. How to Join The Tackroom
Step One: Get Whitelisted
The first thing you need to do is get whitelisted. Join our Discord server, where you’ll go through a simple verification process. Once verified, you’ll be added to the whitelist, granting you access to connect to The Tackroom.
Step Two: Join the Server
Launch RedM, and in the server browser, search for “The Tackroom.” Click to join and start your adventure!
If you can’t find the server, press F8 and enter the following command:
connect 64.72.205.116
This will directly connect you to The Tackroom.
Step Three: Start Your Journey
Once connected, you’ll be prompted to create your character. Don’t stress about making it perfect—later on, you can visit the Reboot Clinic in Valentine to update your character’s appearance.
2. Getting Started
Once you’re in, you’ll find yourself in a world of possibilities. Here’s what you need to know to get started:
Starting Funds
You’ll begin with $1,000 and 0.50 Gold (our premium currency). Gold can be used to buy legendary horses, so save it wisely!
Purchase Your First Horse
Head to any of the horseshoe icons on the map to buy your first horse. Feeling adventurous? Visit the Gun Store, buy a lasso, and try catching a wild horse! You can sell the horses you catch to the running horse icon on the map, either keeping them or selling them for extra money.
Gear Up
Visit the General Store to stock up on essential items like a horse brush, feed, revivers, axes, hatchets, and a gold pan.
Making Money
There are plenty of ways to earn money on The Tackroom. Here are some options to get you started:
- Catch and Sell Wild Horses: Catch wild horses and sell them for a profit.
- Mining: Purchase a pickaxe and mine smaller rocks you find around the world. Look for prompts to start mining.
- Lumberjacking: Grab a hatchet, and start chopping down trees to sell for profit.
- Gold Panning: Buy a gold pan from the General Store and head to any body of water. Open your inventory, double-click the gold pan, and start panning for gold. While it’s luck-based, the thrill of finding gold is worth it!
Selling Resources
Once you’ve gathered resources, head to a general store to sell your items. If you’ve collected Gold Nuggets, you have the choice to sell them for either 0.01 Gold Bar per nugget or cash. Be sure to double-check before you sell!
3. Explore and Expand
Once you’ve built up some cash, the world of The Tackroom is yours to explore! You can hunt, roam the wilderness, and in the future, you’ll be able to purchase your own homestead. If you’d like custom map modifications, our membership tiers include options for having a custom YMAP added to the server.
