RedM Collector, Bounty Hunting & Herbalism Progression Rework | The Tackroom
If you’ve spent any time on The Tackroom, our RedM Equestrian sandbox server, you know that as much as we heavily focus on the equestrian side of Red Dead Redemption, we’ve always called ourselves a slice-of-life server as well, which means we’ve had Collector, Bounty Hunting, and Herbalism for a while now. They worked. They were fine, a good way to enjoy the basic activities of RDR2, but “fine” wasn’t cutting it anymore.
All three roles had XP systems built in from the start. We never used them to their full potential. That changes now. We’ve gone back through each one, reworked the progression curves, overhauled the reward structures, and made leveling up feel like something worth chasing, and worth reaching that level 100 status.
Here’s what’s different.
Collector
The RedM collector role was always about riding across the map, finding items, and selling them. That part hasn’t changed. What has changed is the value of what you’re finding.
We’ve built out a full set of TTR Collector items themed around horse equipment for the Collector script. Ten items total, ranging from a Hoof Pick on the low end to a full Saddle at the top. Each one sells for cash at the general store, and the payouts scale with rarity. The cheaper items are common finds. The high-value ones take more time and effort to track down.
The full set includes Hoof Pick, Spur Straps, Bridle Tassle, Horseshoe, Riata, Stirrup, Western Bit, Branding Iron, Saddle Blanket, and Saddle. The Saddle is the crown jewel of the collection.
The collector items are spread across 11 collector categories on the TTR Interactive Map, with over 300 marked locations to explore. If you haven’t checked out the map yet, now’s a good time. It makes collector runs a lot more efficient when you know where to look.
On the backend side, we switched back to the SireVLC Collector script as part of the V4 update. We had moved away from it previously, but the V4 version addressed the performance concerns we had. So far so good. The script is running cleaner, items are spawning reliably, and we haven’t seen the lag issues that pushed us off it in the first place.
The XP system for Collector is now active and tracking your progress. The more you find and sell, the higher you climb. Higher levels mean better access to rare spawns and bigger payouts over time.

Bounty Hunting
RedM bounty hunting within TTR got one of the biggest overhauls. We’ve fully configured the SireVLC Bounty Hunter Role with higher XP, better payouts, and mission types that feel distinct from each other.
You pick up bounties at your nearest sheriff office. Missions are tied to the district you’re in, so starting a bounty in Valentine pulls from Heartlands missions while picking one up in Tumbleweed pulls from the desert. Two mission types: Short and Long.
Short missions drop you straight into the action. You get a target and you need to track them down. Find the bounty, deal with the enemies trying to stop you, and bring the target back to the sheriff office. Dead or alive, your call.
Long missions add a layer of investigation. Before you get the target’s location, you need to find clues scattered around the area. Use eagle eye to spot them. Each clue pushes you closer to the bounty’s location. Once you’ve found enough, the target reveals and the hunt begins. These take more time and pay more for the effort.
Both mission types end with a delivery cutscene at the sheriff office. Bringing your bounty in alive pays full reward. Bringing them in dead still pays, but less. We want bounty hunting to feel like more than point and shoot.
The built-in bounty hunter XP system is now fully active. Every completed mission earns XP toward your bounty hunter level. As you rank up, you earn cash and item rewards at each new level. We understand the grind with Bounty Hunting is risky with being shot at, and potentially being killed and we wanted the payouts match.
We also added ten milestone items exclusive to the bounty hunter progression. Every ten levels, you earn a themed collectible that tells the story of your career. You start with a Tarnished Badge at level 10 and work your way through a Signed Wanted Poster, an Outlaw’s Pocket Watch, an Engraved Hip Flask, Worn Bolt Cutters, a Confiscated Lockbox, a Sheriff’s Letter, Rusted Shackle Irons, and an Outlaw’s Gold Tooth. Hit level 100 and you earn the Marshal’s Badge, the final mark of a fully ranked bounty hunter. Each item scales in value, so the higher you climb, the bigger the reward when you sell.

Herbalism
Herbalism’s RedM progression was the flattest of the three. This is/was one of TTR’s main money earning. Wandering through the server, and picking herbs along the way. There’s wasn’t much to herbalism besides the wander and collect. Every level cost roughly the same XP, and every level paid $100. No variation. No milestones. No reason to push past level 20 versus level 80.
We rebuilt the XP curve from the ground up. Early levels come quickly so new herbalists feel the momentum. Mid-range levels require steady effort. The upper levels demand real commitment. The total XP needed to reach max level is significantly higher than the old system, and the curve gets steeper the higher you go.
The reward structure is completely different now too. Regular levels give modest cash. Every few levels, you hit a milestone that pays out more cash plus herb bundles. The bigger milestones include gold and rare wildflower items. And the capstone reward at max level is an exclusive Herbalist Saddle you won’t get anywhere else on the server.
The reward structure is completely different now too. Regular levels give modest cash, and herbalist chips; which we’ll cover at the end. Every few levels, you hit a milestone that pays out more cash plus herb bundles. The bigger milestones include gold and rare wildflower items.
Like bounty hunting, we added ten milestone items tied to the herbalism progression. Every ten levels, you earn a themed tool of the trade. Level 10 starts you off with a Glass Specimen Jar and the value climbs from there through a Gathering Knife, Dried Herb Pouch, Tincture Flask, Pressing Board, Mortar and Pestle, Herbalist Journal, Drying Rack, and Distiller Set. The Apothecary Box at level 100 is the top-tier reward. Sell values range from $1,000 at the low end to $15,000 at the top, so every milestone feels worth reaching.
The old system paid flat cash with no items across 100 levels. The new system pays out substantially more in total value when you factor in the milestone items, herb bundles, wildflowers, and herbalist chips. But the rewards are spread across meaningful thresholds instead of dripping out the same amount every single level. You feel the difference when you hit a milestone.
Herbalism pairs well with the other roles too. If you’re running collector routes, you’ll pass through herb-rich areas. If you’re between bounties, gathering herbs is a solid way to keep earning while you wait on cooldowns.
One More Thing: Chips
On top of the milestone items, every level you earn across all three roles rewards you with a chip specific to that activity. Bounty Chips for bounty hunting, Herbalist Chips for herbalism, and Collector Chips for collecting. These stack up as you level and you can sell them for an extra boost of cash on top of your regular rewards. Think of them as a bonus layer of income that grows the more you play. The higher your level, the more chips you’ve earned, and the more money sitting in your inventory waiting to be cashed in.

TTR Prestige
So what happens when you hit level 100? You earn a TTR Prestige title.
Each role has its own Prestige rank. Max out Herbalism and you earn the title of Apothecary. Reach level 100 in Bounty Hunting and you become an Inquisitor. Complete the Collector grind and you’re an Antiquarian. Each title comes with a custom badge and a matching Discord role so everyone knows you put in the work.
To claim your Prestige, open a TTR Prestige ticket in Discord. Staff will verify your level on the backend and add the role. No screenshots needed on your end.
These are bragging rights. No gameplay advantages, no shortcuts, no pay-to-win. If you see someone in Discord with an Apothecary, Inquisitor, or Antiquarian role, you know they earned it the hard way.
Why We Did This
We love the horses. That’s never going to change. But we want things to do with our horses, not sit around town waiting for something to happen. These progression reworks give players a reason to saddle up, ride out, and stay busy – and perhaps find other ways to make money besides just horses. We have always wanted ways to make money be in a variety of ways, and this appeals to many different people’s play styles.
We’re always looking for more activities to add to the server. More ways to earn, more reasons to explore the map, more goals to chase. The collector, bounty hunting, and herbalism updates are part of that bigger picture. Progression should feel like progression. A level 10 player and a level 90 player should have a different experience, and now they do.
The rewards match the effort. The milestones give you something to aim for. The XP systems that were always there are finally doing what they were designed to do. And we’re not done. More content is coming.
